Temporary Protected Status (TPS) Designation Extended for Honduras and Nicaragua
USCIS announced that TPS will be extended for Honduras and Nicaragua for 18 months from its current expiration date of July 5, 2010, through January 5, 2012. To be eligible for re-registration, you must have (1) previously registered for TPS and your application was granted or remains pending, or (2) you are eligible to register now under the provisions for late initial registration. To re-register, complete form I-821 during the 60-day re-registration period which begins May 5, 2010, and end July 6, 2010.
TPS re-registrants are also eligible to renew employment authorization by submitting the I-765. USCIS recognizes that it is unlikely registrants will receive their new employment authorization documents (EAD) before July 5, 2010. Thus, current EAD's granted pursuant to the TPS designation of Honduras and Nicaragua are automatically extended for 6 months, through January 5, 2011.
